Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Determine job requirements
   • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
2. Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
3. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs
4. Identify job requirements from specifications, drawings, job sheets or work instructions, including machine or process selection and settings
5. Conduct pre-start checks
   • Check safety equipment and guards for correct position and operation
6. Undertake programmed operational maintenance according procedures
7. Undertake pre-start checks to SOPs
8. Verify the match task requirements against equipment, raw material and tooling
9. Operate machine/ process
   • Start up and operate machine/process in accordance with job instructions and SOPs
10. Load components/feed stock and maintain consistent with production requirements
11. Unload machine/process output using appropriate manual handling techniques
12. Handle machine/process output and store in a manner not likely to cause damage
13. Record production data to SOPs
14. Monitor machine/process
    • Monitor machine/process for safe and correct operation
15. Follow emergency procedures in accordance with SOPs
16. Recognise and rectify deviations and faults in product/output, raw material/feed stock, tooling and machine/ process
    • Recognise faults/deviations from SOPs, job sheets or other documentation
17. Rectify faults/deviations in accordance with standard operating procedures, job sheets or other documentation
18. Adjust machine/process settings within parameters, as required
